How it Works:

It's as easy as 1-2-3
  1. After you've followed @tweetaways on twitter visit our homepage to request your unique tweetaways key. (We added this step to make sure only YOU can pull a random winner in a contest with your @username.)
  2. Enter your Twitter username, tweetaways key, and qualifying tweet phrase at tweetaways.com.
  3. We'll pick a random winner from the qualifying tweets and send you an @reply and a DM once the contest winner has been selected.

You just contact the winner and let them know how to claim their prize!

Behind the scenes

Our web app will magically select a random winner from all the tweets in the Twitter stream that match your phrase and contain your @username. Duplicate entries will be removed.

After the winner is drawn, it will be posted as an @reply and a DM to you from our @tweetaways Twitter account.

Can I use Tweetaways to draw more than one winner?

Yes :) After you click the "Pick a Winner" button once to pick your first winner, you should see an option to "Pick Another Winner". This is available for both free and premium Tweetaways users

Tweetaways uses Ruby on Rails built-in random number generator. From the Ruby docs: "Ruby currently uses a modified Mersenne Twister with a period of 2**19937-1."
